The Joint Security Taskforce (JTF) in Kano yesterday confirmed the killing of two suspected gunmen, two civilians and the arrest of five others in Mariri area in the outskirts of Kano metropolis.
The JTF spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Kano.
He said the incident happened yesterday evening when the suspected gunmen attacked a JTF check-point in the area, which was quickly repelled by the operatives manning the check-point.
“The JTF operatives were able to successfully repel the attack as no member was killed or injured,’’ he said.
Iweha explained that two other civilian passers-by, including a woman, also lost their lives during an exchange of fire between the attackers and JTF operatives.
According to him, the operatives also recovered several rounds of ammunition and one AK-47 rifle from the suspects.
