Muktar Yero sworn in as new Kaduna State governor


yeroThe former deputy governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, seize to be the deputy after he was officially sworn-in on Sunday as the state governor, following the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa in a helicopter crash in Okoroba, Bayelsa State.

Governor Patrick Yakowa, former National Security Adviser, Gen. Owoye Azazi; and four others died after a Nigerian Navy helicopter conveying them from Okoroba to Port Harcourt International Airport crashed a few seconds after takeoff.

Yero has taken the oath of office and allegiance before the Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Justice Rahila H. Cudjoe, at Government House, Kaduna around 1p.m.

Speaking shortly after he was sworn-in, Yero pledged to build on the good foundation laid by late Yakowa. He said the vision of late Yakowa was to secure, unite and develop Kaduna state.

The newly swonrn-in governor urged the people of the state to pray for him to consolidate on the achievements of his late predecessor, whom he described as a humble and amiable personality.

He said it was unfortunate that Yakowa did not live to develop his agenda for the state and promised to serve the interests of the people.

Yakowa and others had attended the burial of Pa Olebara Douglas, father of the Special Adviser to the President on Documentation and Strategy, Oronto Douglas, in Okoroba.
