Several knocks have come the way of the rattled Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola for abandoning indigenes of the state in the Jos crisis in Plateau State , which has claimed many innocent lives.

No fewer than four indigenes of Osun State had been killed in the crisis, including a son of a frontline traditional ruler in the state, the Eburu of Iba, Oba Ibraheem Bamgbade.

A Pro-democracy organization, the Campaign for Genuine Democracy (CGD) chided Oyinlola over the death of the innocent indigenes of the state in the crisis, saying that the lives of the deceased might have been saved if the governor had responded on time to the rescue call by the trapped victims.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that Lagos , Ekiti, Kwara and other states had rescued their various indigenes from the crisis-ridden town, when they perceived that the crisis was escalating beyond the control of the security operatives.

According to the CGD, “the premature death of our brothers in Jos mayhem was purely a product of wicked silence of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola from issues that border on the lives of our people”.

The National Coordinator of the CGD, Comrade Akinkunmi Asifat, popularly called Government, in a press statement made available to the medium recently in Osogbo, the state capital, lamented, thus: “The death of the helpless indigenes of the state in the Jos chaos was an attestation that Oyinlola has no interest in the safety of the common people in the state”.

Asifat berated the state governor over what he called his nonchalant attitude to the welfare, yearnings, and safety of the unaided people of the state.

He questioned the Oyinlola-led administration that claimed to be serving the masses, querying whether he is truly serving common people of the state, or his party, political brothers and godfathers?.

The CGD boss stressed: “There is a clear difference between politics and governance. The duo should not overlap each other.

“Politics can only be played during the electioneering campaigns, but when it is over, governance remains. In addition, we, in Campaign for Genuine Democracy {CGD}, an organization that is founded on the ideology and principle to agitate for positive changes from the satanic imperial capitalist civil rule to genuine democracy.”

“We are charging the state governor to facilitate how the remaining indigenes of Osun State would be evacuated from Jos in a bid to save their various lives from untimely deaths.

“We are equally calling the good people of this state to remain optimistic and continue agitating for good governance, which will pave way for pro-masses programmes for the benefit of the common people, not this kind of capitalist system of government that turns governance into business investment in the state.”

  1. I pity the families of those who were affected by the senseless killings in Jos. What would Eburu of Iba say on this? I am afraid he can never blame Oyinlola for the death of his son because he is a very good friend of the mis-governed governor. May the gentle souls of the deceased rest in perfect peace. AMEN.
