Also, the council approved the award of contracts for the rehabilitation of 21 selected roads within Osogbo, the state capital, saying that the roads were awarded to Messrs RATCON Construction Company Ltd in the sum of N3.9billion with the completion period of nine months.

Some of the 21 roads, according to him are Old Coca-Cola-Capital Hotel road; Capital Hotel-Tinumola Estate-Oroki Estate linking Ilobu road; Gbodofon-Jolayemi-Gbaemu junction roads; Gbaemu-Oluode-Elelede junction linking Borepo Supermarket area along Ayetoro; John Mackay-Gbeja-Oke-baale road; Kola-Balogun road junction to Fiwasaye; Oja-Oba-Osun groove road, with the extension to Plantation area; Station road-Fagbewesa-Odi-Olowo junction road; Alaafia Street-Church Street linking Awolowo way in Osogbo, among others.

Meanwhile, the council, Akere said, has resolved that every necessary step should be taken to ensure that all the local government councils in the state, take the issue of environmental cleanliness as a matter of duty, as it has henceforth become their responsibilities.

He said: “With time, we are going to see that we come up with an idea of competitive prize that at the end of each month, we will be giving the best local government in the area of sanitation prizes. We have also decided that there should be environmental sanitation of the offices every Thursday, between the hours of 8.am and 10.am”.

Well done. I am surprised that the road leading to UNIOSUN is not mentioned here. Has it been awarded before or when is that road going to be tared? I pray God continue to guide the leadership of Osun State.

The governor is not so much favorably disposed towards the Osun State University. As I write, the medical students who have spent three to four years are currently at crossroad as to their future. The governor says there is no fund for the completion of the teaching hospital. Alternatively, the governor also blocks their way from crossing to study other science courses like Bio Chemistry or Micro Biology. None of these students failed any examinations. Their parents have paid the prescribed school fees fully. But starting afresh from other universites is starring the medical students in their faces. This is not right coming from a Governor using Awolowo education policy as mantra. Agreed the PDP under Oyinlola misruled the state, it is not sufficient to throw away everything Oyinlolq did. It is akin to the proverbial throwing away the water with the baby.
