Osun State deputy governor, Otunba (Mrs) Grace Laoye-Tomori has reiterated the efficacy of prayer as the only panacea to the incessant killing of Christians by Boko Haram sect in some parts of Nigeria.
Otunba Tomori gave this advice while receiving the First Diocesan Merit Award byChurch of Nigeria, Anglican Communion,Diocese of Ilesa, as part of the activities marking the 3rd anniversary ceremony of the Diocese at the Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Omofe in Ilesa.
The deputy governor explained that the Holy Bible has established that every evil fashioned against those who believe in God shall not prosper and that with prayer, the menace of Boko Haramwould be swept away just as the Red Sea swept away Pharaoh and his warriors, when they were pursuing the Israelites.
She added that the faith in Christ will never fail any adherent.
Laoye-Tomorithen dedicated the award to Almighty God, as well as the governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the good people of the state.
She therefore implored the people of the state to always imbibe the spirit of virtuousness, since it is the hallmark of development in all societies.
The deputy governor further stated that the innovation of Elementary, Middle and High Schools in the state education sector would go a long way to rejuvenate and revolutionise education in the state.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, who was also the chancellor of Ilesa South West Diocese of Anglican Communion, Hon. Justice OmotundeIlori,described the current administration in the state as a rebirth of good things and also described the commissioners in the cabinet as round pegs in round holes.
Bishop of the Diocese of Ilesa South West, Rev. Samuel Egbebunmi highlighted the numerous achievements of the Diocese and thanked God for raising the Diocese of Ilesa from one to four Dioceses in 2012.
Also honoured at the service were the Commissioner for Landsand Physical Planning, Architect MuyiwaIge, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Honourable Adewale Adedoyin, Alhaji SikiruAyedun, Commissioner for Tourism, Home Affairs and Culture, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, Commissioner for Finance, Elder AdebiyiAdelowo, the ACN State chairman, Chairman Ilesa West Local Government Council Area and his counterpart in Oriade Local Government Council Area.
