Ilesa-West Will Soon Be A Model Amongst Others – Council Chairman

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government Council Area of Osun State, Honourable Azeez Issa Adesiji, has promised that his administration intends to put all hands on deck to ensure the acceleration of socio-economic development in the council, with a view to making Ilesa West, a model amongst local governments in Osun State.
Honourable Adesiji, who said this as he hosted the state governor; Mr. Rauf Aregbesola during the commissioning of phase one of the new Ilesa West Secretariat Complex, Omi Aladiye, Osogbo road, Ilesa, and a block of four classrooms at George Burton memorial College in Ilesa recently.
He maintained that, good governance was all about guaranteeing freedom, according to him; “good governance is our focus and as it is all about guaranteeing freedom and making life more bearable for all”.
The council boss stated that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) led-government in Osun State would do everything possible to bring the dividends of democracy to the people’s doorsteps.
He stated that the successful completion of Block ‘A’ of the new Secretariat Complex served as a pointer to the good plans his administration had for entire citizen of Ilesa West council area.
While appealing to the state government, to financially aid the council in their decision to complete the Secretariat project, the council boss revealed that, it would cost about N120 million.
“It is our plan to complete the remaining three phases of the new local government secretariat which will cost about N120 million”.
The remaining phases when completed would accommodate the six departments that were still in the old Secretariat and allow for the smooth conduct of government business that has being hampered by distance, he added.
Other projects which the council had embarked on and completed according to the caretaker committee boss included:
•Completion of prayer hall/office at Odo-Iro motor park
•Purchase of a new refuse disposal truck
•Purchase and installation of transformers
•Production and distribution of 24, 000 big notes and 1, 400 packets of chalk
•Purchase and distribution of English and Mathematics textbooks for SSS 1 students in the local government council area
•100% increase in the monthly purchase of drugs for all maternity centres in the local government council area
•Grading of various roads across  the nooks and crannies of the local government council area
•Construction of lined drain along Agunrodo-Obokun road
•Employment of 30 permanent members of staff
•Employment of 57 casual workers to complement Mr. Governor’s OYES programme
•Dredging of Oromu and Omieran streams
•Prompt attention to environmental sanitation of the local government
•Renovation of Isida comfort station
•Reactivation of Upper Igbogi Mini water Scheme
•Purchase of three vehicles for the office of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and the Head of Local Government  Council Administration
•Sponsorship of 2011 Lenten Talk on OSBC Radio, Gold FM and Unique FM
•Sponsorship of 10 people to Mecca and Jerusalem
•Asphalt patching of township roads
•Purchase of food items and distribution of same at Easter festival
•Construction of public library in progress
•Prompt payment of staff salaries and arrears of claims
•Drilling of boreholes
•Production of the local government map
•Rejuvenation of the council football team from Amateur Division 3 to Amateur Division 1 and the appointment of 31 players and 7 officials.
The Chairman also emphasized the need to aggressively pursue the asphalt surfacing of roads as the dry season is about to set in.
He called on the people to be patient and encouraged them to be prayerful for more success to be recorded by his administration.
“We also seek your co-operation by paying your taxes and rates approved by the government, with a view to jacking-up the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) status of the council area”, he added.
Recalling the inauguration of the caretaker committee in the 30 Local Government Areas and the Area Office, Modakeke on 17th February, 2011 was due to the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division, which nullified the elections of their predecessors, the caretaker chairman was full of appreciation to the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ilesa, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.
“Baba has been very good to us and offers us very useful advice, which has contributed immensely to the listed achievements”, he stated.
In his speech, the Osun State governor; Mr. Rauf Aregbesola expressed surprise at the record of achievements the caretaker committee of Ilesa West Local Government Council Area had been able to accomplish in the short period of time.
He commended Honourable Adesiji led-committee for being able to achieve so much, with the little allocation from the federation account, adding that the completion of the Secretariat Complex was a major decision of the council boss because government was a continuation.
The Secretariat Complex would make the work of the staffs to be more comfortable, the governor explained. He described the achievements as a mark of prudence on the part of the caretaker committee and the local government.

Mr chairman ASIZEZ most of d work re commenced by past government like odo iro prayer ground build by SENATOR OMISORE,we ve nt seen any transformer at any street in ilesa west,do nt account OYES WORKER as ur achvment coz it was a state programme,d OROMU&OMIERAN re state work,so d UPPER IGBOGI WATER SCHEME was build by comunity even d comunity were yet 2 balance d cost of labour nd where did u build ur borehole so by so doing we appeal 2 mrRAUF AREGBESOLA 2 invent all ds ghost work done by council chairman in ilesa west tny
