Decomposing Corpse Of Kidnapped Osun Business Mogul Found Year After AbductionThe decaying body of an Osun State business mogul, Mr. Idowu Obembe popularly known as ‘Nobility’ who was kidnapped over a year ago has been found by the men of the state police command in a thick forest suspected to be den of his kidnappers in Ilesa, Ilesa West Local Government Area of the State.
Obembe, before his kidnap on 5th August, 2012, which subsequently culminated into his gruesome murder, was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nobility Stores, a big firm that deals with supply of drinks in Ilesa.
It was gathered that the family members of the deceased had paid an undisclosed ransom to the kidnappers of Obembe hoping that he would be released unarmed but they were thrown into mourning when they identified the carcass of Obembe in his kidnappers’ den after a year of being held hostage.
While disclosing how a 29-year-old kidnapper, Gbadegeshin Ifeoluwa, led a team of police detectives attached to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Osun State Police Command following a tip off to the forest where Obembe’s lifeless body was found, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Folashade Odoro said that late Obembe was identified by his shoes and clothes.
According to Odoro, four suspected kidnappers had been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Obembe and have been remanded in Ilesa prison custody by an Osogbo Magistrate Court before Gbadegeshin was apprehended on 23rd August, 2013 at Elere Are, Apata in Ibadan, Oyo state, an arrest that led to the discovery of the victim.
The suspect was said to have confessed to various kidnapping cases in the state which includes the kidnapping of another business mogul at Ile-Ife on 19thh September, 2011, Mr. Popoola Ogundoyin popularly known as POPULAT; abduction of one Pastor Peter Oladipo of The Apostolic Church, Ilesa around 23rd November, 2012 before kidnapping Obembe aside various robbery operations.
Odoro who revealed that the body of Obembe has been deposited in the morgue stated that the relatives of the deceased have been contacted adding that they identified the corpse before the rotten body of Obembe was evacuated from the forest. She however noted that Gbadegeshin is currently helping the police in its investigations saying that he would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dorothy Gimba has reiterated her commitment to rid the state of criminal elements urging all citizens of the state to have trust in the police by not hiding relevant information that could aid the arrest of criminals.
The police boss said just as prompt report of incidents is very crucial, relevant conversations between parties should be supplied to the police so as to assist in rescuing victims unhurt and arrest of culprits before damage is done. She assured that all information given to the police will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
